Finally got ahold of him today on the phone, actually it was the other way around, he called us randomly. I swear he drunk dialed the shop, he sounded hammered and was quite hard to talk to. I am going to look at the car tomorrow as long as the weather stays nice. If I heard him correctly through the slurring, his price is currently $550, which I assume is close to what the scrapyard will give.

I've been busy lately and just got around to going to see the car. It is definitely a southern car, no rust on the wheel wells and the underside looks beautiful. The dash has been taken out and is sitting in the car, but it looks like he was fairly gentle with it, I couldn't get inside because no one there had keys. I did see the grille in the back seat and the radiator. The interior looked in very good shape, didn't see any splits on the front seats.

I'll try to arrange a meeting with him so I can see inside and work on a price.

If it wasn't 3200 miles roundtrip it would be the perfect place to put my new motor, tranny and wiring harness.

Shipping cars is fairly cheap these days. In most cases it would be cheaper to have it shipped than it would be for you to go get it.

You are right. Considering the distance would be cheaper to ship IF it was a running car, but there is a significant additional charge for non-running cars.

The number on the Craigslist ad is the same number we've been using to contact him. If you talk to him, tell him the guys from Stickman Customs referred you, he should be willing to give you the price he told us. I'm not making any money on the deal, I just want it to be saved, he knows that. I should be talking to him again soon.
