Re: My new toys.
In case you did not notice, people here HATE Hondas. Not sure why, I love Hondas

Re: My new toys.
We have one of these at the shop, used to have a little 49cc 2 stroke, now it is electric. It is just as fast as it was, but a lot more convenient and less temperamental.
Of course, the fenders, tank and side skirts are all custom, it had plastic crap all over it, just something to fool around with in our spare time. It isn't finished, but it is still ridable. |

Re: My new toys.
Our goal with that electric chopper is 25 mph with 48 volts. It might be getting 24 volts from 3 junk batteries and does about 15mph right now. It has no speed controller, just an on/off switch, so it is plenty fast enough for having so little control over the speed. Until we work out some form of speed controller, we just push it off since a standing start will snap the chain and flip the switch on and ride around in the neighborhood. It will mostly be something for car shows when it is finished, since most shows aren't allowing anything gas powered, but they allow those electric old people scooters, they should allow this.

Re: My new toys.
I used to have one years ago but didn't last a day. The exhaust gasket kept busting or whatever so it would continue to die. I finally gave up after replacing the gasket so many times and not having any luck with it. Someone offered me $100 for it and I let them take it off my hands.
They are fun though, when they work

Re: My new toys.
We acquired another toy:
The shop I work at is a across the street from a guy that cleans out houses and collects junk. Saw the little Razor sitting in his junk pile and offered $10 for it, threw the charger on it and it worked great but slow, so we started modifying it. Added another battery, speed controller from a junk Razor MX500 dirtbike and a bigger rear sprocket also found on the MX500, now the little thing flies. Might not be as fast as some of the gas ones, but about as fast as I want to go on something that small, definitely a white knuckle ride. The 24 volt controller actually worked fine with 36 volts going through it, but it was definitely a bottleneck, it was a night and day difference when we swapped the controller. Just need to clean it up and give it a paint job. Maybe House of Kolor Pavo Purple with an Orion Silver frame? The chopper is going to be House of Kolor Planet Green. |
