URGENT -AC question

Do you guys know what the difference is between the 91-92 condenser and th 93-97 condenser??? they are SOOOO hard to find!!! but i found several 93-97. I called up the subaru dealer and he said that he didnt know for sure. Would you guys happen to know??? Will it fit? Will the fittings/hoses be the same??
Thanks!

Don't know for sure, but the hoses and drier, etc all look the same.

One way (not kind to the parts dept) is to call one dealer and ask for the price and the part number for future reference. Call another and ask the same question for the other year - compare numbers between the years.

If they are the same, Subaru has probably decided it was easier just to stock the latter model. I would think the later years had more cooling capacity (if that's the right term) since 134 performance is slightly less than R12.

I guess you could also troll your way through subaruparts.com and use their online diagrams/part numbers.

Significant Technical Input Registered SVX Classic SVX
Checked subaru parts.com for part numbers. The 92 condensor was PN 73020PA000. The 93 had a PN of 73020PA020 (R134a) which was superseded by PN 73020PA021 for 94-97. The prices remain the same

I think it "probably" fits. I know the newer (94+) compressor and filter/dryer both fit fine. I had to pull out a couple of the locator pins on the hose fittings to get the filter/dryer hooked up, and it is a little different shape, but no big deal.

I would imagine that they wouldn't change any more than they had to between the two, for such a low volume model, so I'd expect all the mounting points, etc. to be the same.

Let us all know how it turns out, please.
