Transmission Symptoms

What are some of the early signs of the transmission going out?

Re: Transmission Symptoms

Well, before mine failed, it would drive perfect if you put the selector in "3" but if you put it in "D" it would drive fine until it shifted up to 4th gear-It would find the gear fine and stay in gear under very light throttle but if you pressed the gas harder it would flare up and then catch 3rd gear at a higher RPM. That is how it feels when the high clutch is starting to go. Also if the car flares in the 2-3 gear change, that is because of the brake band and it causes extra wear on the high clutch. If that should start to happen, get it adjusted immediately.
