Rant: Doing a head gasket

Not the SVX , just me.

I've Been Wheel Jacked!! - took all 4 wheels and front lug nuts (left rears behind)

Pretty Pissed off.........Argh!

last night some low life decided they wanted wheels more than me, so just took 'em and left it on blocks - whilst in the driveway!

Not the sort of thing you expect to find first thing in the morning.
Police had several reports of garages being broken into so wheels may have been taken at random, not knowing how specific they are.

So, I dare say idf any good condition wheels with Yokahama C drive tyres turn up, in Sydney we know where they come from

end Rant

Holy crap, that sucks. I'll keep an eye on Ebay and let you know if anything funny turns up. Do you have a spare set of wheels you can put on?

Hi Tony

yes - they were the SVX rims, exel condition, but centre caps were showing their age.
not much use to anyone unless they want a good looking SVX - I think there's a Nissan that shares our offset as well isn't there?

They won't fit any other car due to the centre hub.

I am amazed that somebody did that while the car was parked outside!

Surely somebody must have seen or heard something......?

Have you had any luck finding a replacement set of wheels?

Jason.

While we are on the subject:

Has anyone found a set of locking nuts that fit? I've been given the big ol' "You got a what kinda car?" a few times, and when you show them the nuts and indicate what you need they give you a blank look. The biggest problem seemed to be the profile of the bottom end of the nut, and the lack of side clearance around the 'working' part of the top. I stopped trying years ago.

If anyone finds a decent set of locking nuts, I'd be in the market for two sets of four.

--

Viking (and Tony) try Brookvale Spares. (Brookies Parts Plus).

http://www.brookvalespares.com.au/

They had a few sets when I went in there a few years back for something else. If you do have any luck getting hold of some sets, see if they have any sets that look like they are in pristine condition (I'm hoping to come across a very very nice set for the show car). I'd be willing to trade a set that are a little on the ordinary side and some cash.

I had some trouble viewing their website just then, if you can't get it to work give them a call.

Wheels update

progress so far is:

Tom Kerr = can't do in Australia !! (sorry Jason, I have never come across a more unhelpful organisation unless the parts just fall off the shelf for them!)

Penrith Subaru - will definitely try and get them in - from Japan there are only LH, no RH at all , but get this, rims are $1327 ......each!

Total cost is $6400 for 4 rims, (assuming they can source some righties), 4 centre caps and 10 wheel nuts.

Not really worried about the cost as it's insurance to pay, but phew...not cheap.

I have brought rims from Subaru Aust and they were $500 each so were did the other guys get the price. I think if the price goes to high the insurance company will right off the car. You should get a price from Motorsport warehouse in the USA it might be cheaper then you think.

Hey Tony, which dealer did you go through? Penrith said that was the price through Subaru Aust. Even at $1300 for a pair is pretty rich which is what I originally thought, until I looked at the quote closer

my local dealer in Griffith, I will ask today and let you know tonight what they say they will charge. What about asking a Jap Importer to get them for you.

Struck out with the local dealer but I think these guys would ship from the USA for a fair price. I get parts from USA all the time and it not that dear.

I am just about to order a set of rally grade rims from Compomotive and due to the special offest they have I am getting them made. Even with all that it only costing $576 each which is cheap when you compare it to the standard rims. Also these won't bend or break. I need 6 of as I carry 2 spares were the back seat is normally.

Do you have pics? I'm interested, as the Dad's Charcoal has been running on four rims that all have damage. He'd like to stick with a similar look to the ones he has, or would take a different design (providing it isn't ridiculous).

Would a bulk order bring the cost down?
