Unhappy I lost an old friend tonight.

My old friend Boomer, a 10 year old mini long hair doxie. He was sick and I took him into the vet today and found out that he had several large tumors which could not be operated on. I decided to take him home and then take him back into the vet tomorrow to have him put to sleep because he was starting to get very sick. This evening, he started to get worse, so I had to take him into the emergency clinic and have him put to sleep tonight. I just got back from doing that and could not feel worse. He was with me through thick and thin. He helped me through a divorce and was always there for me when I needed him. He always had a tail wag for me when I walked through the door and could lick me from about 2 feet away. He was a very special friend and I feel better just being able to share this. I will miss him more than I can express here. I know that time will heal this, but it is hard to believe it right now. Thanks to this family that I have here and that I can share this as well as dedicate this to him. It helps to know that others are there and care as well. Boomer, you were a true friend and I will never forget you. Let your tail wag forever on the other side of the bridge.

Earl,

There will be some that won't, but I do understand. I could go on and on, but you know and have experienced it all. I have lost five over the years, the last a large ridgeback, Luke and he was around for quite a while. My youngest sons named him after Luke Skywalker, their hero when he arrived into the family.

We are told that the best cure is to get another dog ASAP, but it is ten years since I lost old Luke, and some how I feel I must honor him as the last. Was Boomer, (great name) the only dog in the family? I hope he had a mate as this may soften the blow for you a little.

How about a picture on here as a memorial.

P.S. As the old western song says, it is certain dogs have a heaven, or a specially good place over that bridge.

Sincerely, Trevor.

Earl, sorry to hear your bad news. It is a tough call, losing an animal that has been a faithful friend through the bad times.

Boomer will be remembered on here through you Earl, sticking out of the small SVX window, ears waving in the breeze.

Take care, my friend.

Joe

My heart goes out to you. I've experienced a loss of a best friend/loyal companion and I know how difficult it is. I'm glad you feel you can express your sorrow here and that Boomer gave you many happy moments.

Sorry to hear about your loss Earl. Just a few years ago I got my first dog from the Humane Society. She's older "probably 10 by now" but she is certainly my best friend. Dogs have a way of pulling at our heartstrings. On behalf of Boomer, why don't you go to the humane society or a rescue shelter when you are ready and share your life and love with another dog that needs a friend.

Sorry Earl,

It's a rough thing to go through. My sister just went through the same thing with her dog. She had him since she had gotten married and has been there with her and her husband through thick and thin. They are great loyal friends but it's unfortunate that they do not live as long as we do. My sincere condolences

Feel

Earl, I feel your pain and loss. I know what mine mean to me and what a loss they would be. I am sure you are like me and never told Boomer that he was a dog. It just didn't matter.

Sorry to hear . I dread the day my dog who I have had since i was about 4 years old (she is 13 now) passes away. She has been through a lot with us including a trip across country, heart worms, and being hit by a car. She still sleeps on the end of my bed every night. She is still full of energy but i know she is old. I still take her out in my SVX she seems to like the front seat because her head rest perfectly on the window. I'm sorry for your loss

I can only wish you the best.

Oddly enough, my parents are most likely going to have to put down a dog today, as well.
