Question Will a 1997 Subaru Outback, Legacy Manual AWD Transmission work?

Hello all

Ok so I found a killer deal on a MT and just would like to know what I need to complete this swap if its possible... I really want a MT in place of my 4EAT; any and all help would be great...

Thank,
Mr.EG33

Yeah, the trans will work. You'll also need the rear diff out of that car. If the diff isn't available, you'll need to get a 4.11 diff out of a Legacy.

You'll also need to fabricate a crossmember, shifter linkage and pedal assembly. Or you can contact TomsSVX for the fabricated bits.

The front axles are fine. The rear diff will be converted to use the LSD kernal out of your SVX diff, then the rear axles will work.

The driveshaft also need lengthened, or you can modify a driveshaft from a 5 speed Legacy.

So is my gear ratio going to stay the same? Will my SVX be faster?

Thank you,
Sean

The stock SVX ratio is 3.545, the Leg is going to be 4.11.

If you swap the trans without the rear diff, the front diff will be 4.11 and the rear will be 3.545. There are directions around here to convert the rear diff. I think there is a link in SVXfiles signature???
