Cool

In the shoebox on the passenger seat we got diversity:
(In no particular order)

Sarah McLachlan
Eva Cassidy (times four)
Leo Kottke
Ian & Sylvia
Lee Hazelwood
The Misunderstood
Traffic
McKendree Spring
Eagle-Eye Cherry
The Mamas & the Papas
Radio Days - Doo-Wop Memories
The Beau Brummels
Helma Sawatsky (Who, you ask?)
The Push Stars (Don't ask)
Emitt Rhodes
Kate Bush
The Outlaws
Enya
Numerous cassettes of obscurities recorded from vinyl over many years,
from 60's British Invasion, psychedelic (explains the wine thing), folk rock, the occasional heavy metal thing & other stuff not classifiable. For rap & hip hop, check out someone else's cabin.
Ron.

Lee Hazelwood? Wow, that rings the ol' memory bell. "Cherry Wine" with Nancy Sinatra.

I've also got some Kottke.

Can't wait to start transferring my "Wax" to "Disc" -- got some strange stuff. Flora Purim. Nick Ronson's first Solo Album. The Flying Burrito Brothers first album -- about 200 albums, of which I think I bought, maybe, 4. It was good to be in Radio in the 70's. Oooooo -- Todd Rundgren "Something Anything" Joan Baez "Diamonds and Rust" Jackson Brown "Running on Empty" Henry Gross "Plug Me Into Something" Joni Mitchell "Court and Spark" --- I've got to get this project going. Naming all these tunes is killin' me.

I started doing that with MusicMatch some time ago. I actually bought a new record player (remember those?) to do it with, but I haven't gotten back to it since my reformat last February.

Got Daniel Amos' "Shotgun Angel"? As they say, "If you like Poco . . ."

Looks like you're as eclectic as I am, Randy. It was Summer Wine, not Cherry Wine & I should know. Check out the career of Lee Hazelwood especially after his collaboration with Nancy S. in the late 60's. There's an album he did called (I kid you not) "A Cowboy in Sweden" in the early 70's that's truly amazing.

Ron.

Yes, I'm sorry for the faux pas on the Hazelwood song -- "Sweet Cherry Wine" by Tommy James and the Shondels collided in my memory bank with "Summer Wine" causing a disruption in the time/space continuum. Sorry.

And, no, I don't have seizures. I didn't know you had eclecticy.

Good call, James. Love that song (in a strange sort of way). You mean she hates it more than Enya?

Hey Randy!

I too worked in radio inthe 70's....medium mkt., Beaumont Texas....No money, but some good fringes; albums, concerts etc. I have 2-300 albums courtesy of the radio biz...
then comes the time to get a real job and make a living...

"Green Grass & High Times" is great song...The Outlaws were a great band...3 lead players!

I turned on the old 500watt plates at a little station in Brigham City, Utah in 1978-80 and then in Salt Lake for a "comedy format" station in 80-85 that was owned by a man with no sense of humor!..... Should we start another thread relating the "WKRP" type of things that happened?

Damn, it's good to have some guys who can relate.

I made a "career" of Radio for 12 (72-84) years. Started when I was 16 as a "News Director" of a 3,000 Watt "Daytimer." AM was king. My first day as a Senior in High school was my first day on the air. After watching some rather "gross" scenes in news, I decided that "jocking" was a better avenue for me. In 84, I decided that radio was no place for a "family man." Too many "temptations" and far too little money. And, yes, most of the stories, we CAN'T tell.
