I see the point to having the car in the same drawing as the regular raffle, but the thing is, i also agree with the car having significantly more expensive tickets, say $25-$50 seems reasonable. I mean, it's a car. Plus it will have been worked on by the master mechanics here on the forums, so it'll be a nice car, or at least mechanically sound . If you have the regular raffle at 5$ a ticket, iwth the car included, your not going to sell as many, and those who put all the money and effort into making the car will take a pretty big loss. If tickets were 50$ for the car alone, i'd toss in 200$ and i'm sure a few dozen other people would do the same, because it's a more intimant competition, a car, vs the shifter for a car, are two entirely different things, and i can't reasonably see them being in the same raffle.

my $.02

I think we will keeo them in the same raffle and bump all ticket prices up to $5. Thnks Joe, you are correct.

I may also do the drawing in reverse and raffle off things in reverse value to keep the attendees interested even at the end of the raffle

THAT is a superb idea. Keeps everybody interested.

In fact, if you want to keep the whole Network involved in the affair, it would be wonderful if some of our more techy friends could set up a web-cast live for the 10 or 15 minutes of the raffle draw.

Then everybody, and particularly the large number who purchase tickets off the Network but can not be present, everybody will have a chance to join in the fun.

I'm looking forward to it already

Joe

Me too, Earl!!

Young Tom,
Good ideas re the car with the raffle of other items! I would think it would be better to keep the two separate. Higher priced tickets for the car. Also, I bet we could get a NUMBER of dealers to donate parts, shirts, and perhaps even "SVX" parts and stuff - we might be amazed at what dealers have laying around!!

Harry

Harry - I bet you wish you had a shifter to donate to the raffle.

Your luck must be bi-polar.

Either you come out with a grey shifter nobody wants, or you get the SVX neon sign the whole SVX universe is lusting after!!

Has anyone considered the possibility of an auction-style format for the car?

Also (and I realize I am speaking for other people on this one), has anyone thought about raffling (or auctioning) off "gift certificates" for repair / service work? I know not all of us live near people like Tom and Jason, but I bet some of us would be willing to throw in money for a chance at an extra hand when we need some plugs changed or something. Like I said... obviously, the folks with the garages and the know-how would be the ones offering this kind of thing up. Just an idea... flame away

I for one am not in favor of an auction style sale on the car...

It then becomes who has the most money and you immediately exclude a large number of participants.

Chris is right... I didn't know the words to explain it delicately so he said them for me.

I was sure that people much smarter than me would figure out why it was a bad idea... hence the "flame away"
