Its looking bad

OK, so I had my engine replaced in December of 2006.
Since then it has never been the same. There is a constant whine from the engine, there is an even worse whine from the powersteering pump. In addition the P/S pump feels like its going to fail. the steering feels heavy when the engine is not revving high, to spin the belt up. The engine also needs to be completely warmed up before ANY performance is seen. I start it up fine, but if I throttle hard, the car CRAWLS. I also have zero top end power, i lose power at 4500rpm. The last problem is that when the car is in drive, the redline appears to be at 5500m not 6500. When it get to 5500-6500, it start "bouncing" around in the higher RPM. I am selling the car, and I want everything to be as close to perfect as possible. I do have a 1 year warranty on the engine, so im hoping that all these problems will be fixed.

Oh, the transmission has a 3 second delay from when I put the shifter into drive, to when it actually engages and the car rolls forward.

Did the "new engine" include new sensors? It almost sounds like your knock sensors are bad, thus pulling back timing when you try to really get into things. Have you checked the engine for codes? Did the engine come with a PS pump, or did they pull the one off of your old engine?

It sounds like the car is in limp mode! I'd start with knock sensors and anything that the ECU throws a code for.

If its not a sensor or limp mode, check the cat. Might be clogged.

I dont know about the sensors, but the engine did come with all the accesories on it, and the guys just put the "best" parts on it. Again, not sure of the car is throwing codes

What year is your SVX? Unless it's a 96 or 97, you don't need any tools to check your codes.

Here's a link to a how-to

http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?How-To|14264

it's very easy. Do yourself a favor- stop guessing and check the codes.

Thanks, didn't know I could do that, or that it was that easy! It game me codes 13 and 28, which are the cam position sensor, and the knock sensor No.2, respectivly. Now the next steps are...how do I replace them?

i'd say the cam sensor is whats acting up and causing problems... I used to have bad knock sensors going off and it never impeeded performance to the level you describe

Have you paid them? Are you paying them? Why do they expect to be paid?
