Shoe polish on my hood - is this a dumb idea?
I'm wondering if there's any reason why putting black shoe polish on my hood would be a terrible idea? My 15y/o ebony paint is now a custom starry-night, and that black wax stuff isn't dark enough.

Give it a try on a small spot and see what happens.

If its good shoe polish it will be oil based and will smear on metal, also dust will stick to it, If its a lower quality water based shoe polish im not sure what will happen.... except i dont expect it to stick
PS i work part time in a shoe shop :P

I urge you to try Mother's Back to Black.
It did wonders for my SVX... |

That stuff is for trim...not actual paint.

I tried liquid black shoe polish on the trim and like it, but I worry it would look smeary on the paint. I seem to remember using a nice waxy shoe polish on my boots several years ago, I don't recall having a prob with dust sticking to my freshly polished boots, maybe I'll give a jar of that stuff a try.
