Exactly as the title says I need pics of fried SVX rear diffs. These are needed for tomorrow, so please help me.

Rear diffs don't give any trouble, that I know of. Have heard of two that caught fire.

Harvey.

he's right, it is rare that an r160 will fail in an SVX... Wait till LAN puls his out after having a stage 3 on there for a while though, you will see one

sorry i cant provide pics in time.....

when i bought mine it was in pieces
when we installed the 4.44 trans, we naturally pulled the diff to swap ratios
imagine MY surprise to find all the spiders 'n whatnot turned into potato salad(chunky style!!)

i had the stock open diff from the donor car.......nope r/h axle doesnt fit
had a diff from a 2005 forester turbo given to me (!!) nope........wont work....
grrrrrrrrrrrrr

ended up buying a parts car with a good rear diff (and little else i can use btw)

but yes, the diff can be wrecked

i just have NO FREAKIN IDEA how the previous owner did it !!!

the svx rear shouldn't have any spider gears... Maybe the ring and pinion?

i'll dig it out of the shed tomorrow and re-examine.....

could explain the "whining" sound the previous owner mentioned when he had it towed the the transmission shop eh?

lol

hmmmmm
maybe my original 4eat isnt in such bad shape after all.....?
i never looked at that either, just stuck it in the shed and installed the 4.44....

yeah...boy does it have some serious pick-up !!

dunno what stock gearing would feel like, but i'd never want to go back.....

one question(i know....CHECK THE CODES!!) lol

one question....should it REALLY be going into the rev limiter at WOT?
it will hit the limiter in 1,2 and 3rd gears(havent tried 4th yet !!! )
and STAY on the limiter for 1-3 seconds before up-shifting......
is this remotely normal?
i'm thinking not....lol

(and yes it is in "D" and not manual mode at the time.....)

i should prob repost this in tech q & a.....
lol

car shifts just fine at part throttle, smooth no thumping etc

only at WOT does it do this (that would be obvious i guess, since it wouldnt rev that high at less than WOT !! lol)

i wonder what it could be though.......

Cylinder deactivation at shift point.
Stock, lazy, clutch-burning 3rd gear shift.
If it's not 1-3 seconds, it feels like it.

I had a differential go on me when I cought a blow out and put my spare on along with my 18 inch wheels. I didn't even make it home before it caught fire.
