Car won't start

So as I was driving home the other night my car died on me. It acted like it had ran out of gas. Today I finally had time to get to look at it. It is getting gas (almost full tank) and sounds like it is wanting to start, but just wont. I put a new batery in it cause the one I had was going bad. I am going to check the error codes tomorrow to see what they say. Just wondering if anyone has a sugestion on what the problem could be, or what else I could check. I have only had the car about 3 months, so I dont know alot about it yet but the more I am reading the more I am learning about it.

Thank you in advance.

did all the dash lights come on when it died?
sounds like the timing belt to me but we will need more info to diagnose.

Fusable Link

Hi. Have You Checked The Fusable Link, In The Fuse Box Under The Hood? These Can Blow, But Still Look Intact. If You Arent Sure What It Is, It Will Look Like A Loop Of Wire, Where The Fuses Are, And Are Usually Black. Hope This Helps.

Yes all of the lights came on, like they do when the key is turned on. The fusable link is intact I checked fuses and all last night. I do know the cam pulley is in need of replacing.

If the engine cranks over faster than normal it's the timing belt. When the engine cranks and doesn't start it will usually post a trouble code. Instructions for doing this are on http://svx-iw.com in the SVXipedia.

Does not sound like it is cranking any faster that sounds normal. It sounds like it really wants to start but it just wont. I am checking the codes later on today.

I've had a fuel pump fail out of the blue. That's pretty much like running out of gas...

Today I have replaced the fuel pump, checked for spark, and made sure the injectors were good. I did check the error codes and got a 13 (Cam angle sensor) and 29 (Crank angle sensor 2). Anyone have any other options or know what the codes mean? If possible I would like to try to fix the problem myself, rather than going to the daler and costing a ton of money.

Thank you again

Your next step should be to check the timing belt.

Remove one of the side belt covers, or at least get it loose so you can pry it open a crack to see the belt.

But if the Timing Belt was off/broke would the engine not crank faster than normal?

Unless you've heard it before, or have another SVX to compare it to, thats a pretty hard test to judge.

Before I would throw any parts at it, I would pull a cover.

Look no further, its the crank sensor. Might as well replace all three of them.

Harvey.

If the timing belt breaks you still shouldn't get a crank sensor error. You would get a cam sensor error though.

Anyone know where the sensors are located? Are the easy or hard to get to?

I found where they are thank you guys for the help I will keep you posted on the outcome. I hope this is the problem and more dont arise soon. I love the car but is expensive.
