These are pictures of my neon after I T-boned a van going about 45mph. The driver of the van crossed the highway without looking and I hit them. I walked away from the crash with a little whip lash. The car was obviously totaled, but I'm sure someone got some parts off of it...or it was crushed.



The best thing is that I used the money from the accident to buy my SVX

My neon wasn't a bad car, but don't think I'd own another one. I'll stick with the SVX for a while

Are you sure that was 45mph at point of impact, or was it 45mph when you hit the brakes?

I was doing about 65 when I hit the brakes. It was a lot worse in person.

I know. Up close the engine had jumped around from the impact and a lot of stuff had been crushed. When I hit the van I went under it a little and flipped it over. But as far as neons go I like the second generations a lot more than the first generations.

I think you would have had much more tragic results had you smashed concretely into a brick wall at the same speed. It seems you were lucky a great deal of kinetic force was lost or not transferred to the van.

My first subi was/is a 91 Legacy wagon. It got clobbered (while parked), by a 96 full sized Dodge van! It slid to the curb, and bounced back out into the 'line of fire', and was hit again, and pushed back into the curb!
The 'estimate was over $3,000., the car written off by the insurance company, and 3 weeks later, I had it at the AUTO-CROSS, and lost to an MGB by 15/100's of a second! (bent struts and all!!)

You will never convince ME that it was all LUCK!!! I still drive the car!!

ill rephrase it. It was complete luck that he survived the crash the sube was probably the smallest factor in him surviving.
