If you like, go to Subaruparts.com and the p/n: 806908080 is the O-ring at $1.14 and shipping would be $1.99
Or just about any auto parts store wil have a suitable replacement for about $.25. Just buy a couple sizes and use the one that fits. If you search you may even be able to find the exact size.

I read something like that: Supposedly someone calculated that with stock gearing, at redline in fourth gear, an SVX would be doing 190-something. That's IF it had the muscle. Takes alot of ponies to go that fast.

Correct. On the stock 3.545 gears, an SVX would do 195mph at redline in 4th gear *if* the engine was strong enough...

I get the feeling that the SVX would not be able to handle 195mph....but thats just my feeling

We already know the car can handle speeds just under 167mph... (see post #14)

Honestly, I don't see why it couldn't. While the stock suspension is quite soft, it becomes quite 'firm' as speed climbs and the car definitely has a more planted feeling with the road...

But then again, the forces acting on a car at 140-150mph or even at 167mph are totally different from those acting on the car at 190+mph!

I still felt uncomfortable driving my car over 140mph with how firm it is... I wouldn't want to even attempt to go 195...especially on any road with even small pebbels on it

I'm too lazy to try and calculate the top speed possible with given gear ratios and possible engine speeds, but I thought the stock SVX was "capable" of 189 mph. That is just a vague remembrance of what I thought was calculated in the past.

I find it hard to believe that Sonar hit over 160 mph. I remember him talking about all of his high speed experiences... but 160 in an SVX? I've only hit about 127 or so (indicated) which probably means about 120 plus or minus a couple mph... and I had probably a few miles from 60 mph to there at WOT. That seemed like it took forever (and my SVX was in great condition with only 65,000 mi on her). Heck, cars of less weight and 100+ hp more have trouble hitting 170 mph.

I think she would really have trouble with speeds close to 200 mph, may not be enough downforce to keep from floating off the ground.

Chike, where'd you get the figure that Euro SVXi are .285 Cd... I don't know what could make any other SVX have a lower coefficient of friction than another.

P.S. I've been waiting for almost a decade for someone to start getting enough power to the wheels to run the times a couple of you guys are running now.

That's the thing about really firm suspensions - while they're great for handling at lower speeds, at high speeds they can cause the car to feel very 'nervous' over the lightest bumps.

It was discussed in a previous thread.

It was mentioned in the Road & Track Guide to the SVX and they claimed the longer undertray on the euro/JDM models gave it a 'slicker' Cd. I think Harvey disagreed with that assumption and said it probably came from the fact that euro/JDM models came with power retractable side mirrors.

my point is, the car felt much more comfortable with the stiffer suspension yet it still is not gonna make me ok about doing 195 in it... The 6mt tops out probobly at or around 150 maybe 160 with the raised rev limiter... I dunno yet I haven't had it going more than 80 yet... anyway I know that I will not be able to acheive such speeds in my car.

This may have no meaningful bearing on the issue, but Subaru specifies a V-rated tire for the SVX (the North American '92, anyhoo), which is safe for sustained speeds to 149 MPH, as I recall. Seems a reasonable bet that they consider 150 and beyond to be the outer limits.

Tires rating are very underrated... The SVX is good up to I'd say 150 to 155 MPH with a good strong motor... A modded one prob 160... I have no idea how Sonar went that fast in that short a time especially...either way the svx is not a Supercar... it is a tourer so top speed isn't what really counts

Downhill with a brisk tailwind, all the notches on the speedo might indeed be useful. Still, if the SVX in stock trim was capable of 150+ MPH at leisure, Subaru most certainly would have specified Z-rated tires.

thats why there is a speed regulator at 145 in 93+ models
