Wheel thread number 943... but different

I'm looking for not only brand and style of wheels but some input from our autocrossing/racing members too.

I want one set of wheels, that i'll probably either put kuhmo MXs or Falken Azenis on as a track/corner carving wheels set. These will have to work on Both the SVX and my Eclipse. They're the same bolt pattern (helpful eh?) i was thinking for the best combination of looks and handling for both cars, a 17 inch wheel would work best. I would prefer a lightweight wheel, so i was looking into rota wheels (any other brands that make consistantly lightweight and cheap wheels?) for the eclipse, i think the widest i can go would be a 235 wide tire. and i'd want them to be low profile. what aspect ratio do you think would be best for performance, while keeping it if anything, smaller than the svxes stock tire circumference.

I like rota wheels as a choice, but honestly cant find one that i like in the correct bolt pattern. I love this attached "drag 2" but i think its pretty heavy. I like that style, or the formel, however i haven't been able to find the formel in the correct size and bolt pattern. Any Suggestions???

True, and i've been told the second best is great tires... however i have two other reasons for needing tires. one, the tires i currently have on my SVX rub with my sub and another person other than me in the car, and the eclipse should be making enough power to break loose all 4 tires on it currently without working to hard at it... I like being able to solve both problems with one set of wheels

By the way, I'm planning to get my SCCA license and start doing some autocrossing, and road racing as soon as the eclipse is built. And i fully plan on attending some of the "classes" they offer.

You might consider Chike's setup. He's got Mazda RX7 16x8's on his car. They only weight 16 lbs. You may have a hard time finding 235 or 245 16's. Avon Tech 500's are availabe in 245/45x16 and are quite sticky, and only $110. Available through Tire Rack. Both Discount Tire and Tire Rack provide a veritable "plethora" of reviews and data on tires. Enjoy.

Aside from tires and skill I think a more adequate suspension would improve auto-x times the greatest.
Having a little more tire would be nice for transfering tha power to the ground.
Rims probably don't matter too much.

My novice auto-x opinion.

Yeah I started that one too . I just need to find a cheap/lightweight wheel i actually feel compelled to spend money on. I can't justify spending the kind of money wheels cost for something i don't like.

Does anyone know about the weight of the Rota "Style 5" wheels. i tried emailing the distributor but they're about as helpful as getting shot in the foot.
I like the way those look, however they seem like they may be heavy(although they do come in typically "autocross/track sizes")

I hear that the Actions are the lightest of the Rota wheels. Can't seem to find anything on the style 5, but people say that most Rota wheels come in around 20#

Never underestimate the importance of unsprung weight and rotational mass. This month's Motor Trend has an interesting article on the Mitsubishi Evo's. The lighter weight BBS wheels on the MR model (only two lbs. less than the same size Enkei's) provide a significant improvement in performance.

yeah, the distributor (who must not speak english very well) replied with this today when i asked her about availability of the "style 5" wheels (which i'm liking more and more.)

none of the other rotas really stick out as looking good, at least to me. The others i was considering is the volk 37s... but still too.. blah
