Welcome Fnote!

In terms of mods for your car, check out Dayle's on-line store at:

www.svxworld.com

Another good site is:

www.smallcar.com

These two sites should get you started and show you available mods ranging from a shift kit for our auto trans, performance ECU, intake and exhaust kits, and suspension mods.

Welcome Billy,

Since you are an artist and film-maker, can you get some of our rides in some documentaries or mini-films or something. Let's make a "Furious SVX" movie or something. Anyone interested??

Hey guys,

Sorry i've been a little remiss lately, i have alot on my plate at the moment. This seems like a really cool place to come and talk cars , i checked out a few of those SVX related web sites and was suprised that there were so many Performance parts for these cars. The thing that left me a little uneasy was all these transmission problems i've read about. What would be the best way to help eliminate the trans from walking? Thanks in advance.

-Bill

Addind a cooler will save your current tranny a bit. Converting to a 5/6 Speed will save your tranny after that.

Adding a cooler will definitley prolong its life alot. Over heating is what causes the tranny to fail prematurley. Adding a cooler and regular ATF changes will eliminate that.

ok cooler, got it. So whats the average life expectancy of the stock transmission. I guess the most logical thing to do after the trans fails is replace it with the WRX 6 speed? Replacing the stock 4EAT could cause another failure right?

The original tranny will usually last at least 60,000 miles. Replacements don't really have a predictable life expectancy.

So far there is only one complete SVX 6 spd (soon to be 2). Everyone else uses 5 spds from older Subarus.

Mine had just under 100k when I got it, and it has almost 300k now. I just lost third gear . I put a cooler on it as soon as I got it, and I don't know if it was the original tranny or not. I have the option of putting a spare 4eat in, but I am going to put a 5 speed in anyway just because it is trendy. This might not happen until next month though, as I am moving and need to focus on that, as well as getting rid of some of my cars. ...I knew this legacy would come in handy some day

Talking new to boards

Hello my name is john and i live in florida, I own an import export biz and wholesale on ebay yada yada yada.I just purchased from the orig owner a 1992 pearly awd. with 90k on it old guy and the car is tits got it for a 1000 bucks (friend of the fam).I always thought these cars where cool and half the people you see on the road are like wut the F%$# is that!!! so i get the car it needed the infamous wheel bearings did those. Changed the tires they where loud. Found this site and i am so stoked. I was reading the post about the throttle body wire adjustments where they get slack over time, because i had a no power light and thought it was duty c so i was kinda freaking i almost was scared away by the amount of problems these cars are prone to like tranny etc.but for the price could not pass it up so i looked at cable and all four nuts where totally loose and the cable's just sitting there so i fixed this and wham power light !!!!! not to mention the car is a rocket now well thanks all for the information looking forward to meeting you all and attending some meets when i was younger i was a vw nut and had some real fun at meets peace
ps im also a countercrack addict and play for calo <<GOP>> clan under the name <<GOP>>VolcomPimp{HakAl33t}

Yeah im also hearing the clicking noise coming from the wheel bearings. Tell me, how hard is it to replace front axels and wheel bearings. Im no professional mechanic but i know how to turn a wrench. Can it be done on jack stands in front of my house?

Welcome to the site Soobedo. I hope you appreciate what you have there, even if it does need a little work. Don't they all! Good luck with the fixup.
