Few questions about the gear ratio swap...

So I am getting ready to do the gear ratio swap, but I have a few questions.

What years what models can I get the 4.44 gear ratio rear end from?

Is there anything special I need to do to get the new gears in?

Where can I find a used complete trans?

Where is generally the best place find these?

Whats the going rate for trans and rear end?

and

Has anyone accurately calibrated the speedometer after the swap?

Put 4.44 and 4.11 into the search function, it's been asked (by me for one) and answered

You will need a grinder to take out some metal bumps in the new rear diff - once you have the new rear diff and the SVX diff opened up you will see what has to be done. It would take days with a file, so an air or electric powered grinder is the only real solution.

Wrecking yard

I paid $850 for a 98 Imprezza (4.11 auto transaxle with 29K miles on it, 6 months warranty) and a 97 Legacy (from a manual shift) rear diff from a local yard - we don't have many Subies in FLA so it may be cheaper elsewhere where they are more plentiful.

The speedometer remains as accurate (or inaccurate) as before the swap. The speedo sensor measures the rotation in the front differential at the axle rate of turn, so gearing makes no difference.
