Adopt a Greyhound!!!

It is 4:30 am and I have just returned from a local truck stop to pick up my foster "daughter" greyhound. These retired racers make the very best pets you can have. If you are intertesed is a world class companion, I reccomend you do a local search of adopt a greyhound.
We adoped Carolyn in April of this year and I can tell you she is the best dog I have ever known. She gets along great with our other dogs (and cat!), she is so sweet and affectionate.......

Please, if you are thinking of a pet, check out a greyhound.

(Carolyn LOVES to ride in the SVX......)

So anyway, we decided to further our experience with these wonderful creatures and offered to foster one dog until her new owners can pick her up. Her name is Foxy and she is beautiful. Of course she is nervous but she has been a racer her whole life and this is a new experience for her. She is a greyt dog and will enrich her new owners life.
Thanks for reading, and now back to SVX news!

Adopting a greyhound is a very very good thing to do.
Adopting any animal that needs a home is a good thing to do.
Right now we want another small dog, but if the right dog doesn't come around before our Rico dies, I want to look into either greyhound or basenji adoption.

We have adopted two English Mastiffs through Mastiff Rescue. They are the sweetest, gentlest, and best behaved dogs I have seen. They are much more obedient than our other Mastiff that we've had since he was a puppy. That doesn't say anything about my parenting skills, does it???

Adopt a greyhound, adopt a Mastiff, adopt any animal... They are all great causes. Unfortunately November is "dump your dog month" People who are to bothered to deal with last year's christmas present anymore or don't want the hassle of holiday travel with a pet will drop their dog into a humane society or worse just abandon them on the road.

In all seriousness, I do know someone who is part of the adopt a greyhound program in Napa, so if you are local she might be able to help you out...

my dad is the regional coordinator for the Golden retreiver rescue organization here in wi, so we have fostered tens of goldens, until we came across one we couldnt let go! now we coordinate for others to adopt, and emergency foster from time to time.
Here is a pic of my madhouse!

I did that several yrs ago

they actually found dogs killed out in the desert...
from just about that day on here in town groups
popped up to help save the dogs after their racing
time was over. We have a dogtrack intown too.
Mines name was Hazel (because of her eyes ..)
and she was the sweetest, and FASTEST dog Ive
ever owned !! Never realized how fast they are until
they run against a "normal dog" haha.

You and her are really lucky
