Ron (all I know is engineers drive trains).
CentriFUGAL force is not really a force, it's just conservation of momentum - Newton's first law.

You see, as you swing a bucket, it is continually wanting to carry on in a straight line away from you. But it can't because your arm is exerting a CentriPETAL force to hold it back.

That's OK (the highjacking), this thread wasn't all that to begin with.

Yes it is...I work for the Air Force at Cape Canaveral on the range and launch complex side - as opposed to the booster or payload people.

Well, you might be right scientifically, but then again... when I did a web search for centrifugal force this is what Google gave me:

"Centrifugal Force is a group of men in SF dedicated to promoting the art of Flagging." Web page reference is: http://www.cforcesf.com/

I understand the concepts, I just never thought about applying them to wheels.

....until you hit the ground, then it becomes deceleration.

of course, according to Einstein, you could be stationary, it could be the ground accelerating towards you, in which case you would experience acceleration upon impact

One more question.

So if one person jumps off a 20 story building, and another person jumps off a 100 story building, assuming they both weigh the same, and have the same frontal area. Does the earth move the same amount.?

OK, That question was too hard I guess

My next question. Why does the Moon look larger on the horizon, than when it is over head.?

Harvey.

Refraction of light through the atmosphere.

Or, since the moon is made of cheese it could be swelling up as it nears the ocean over that way.
