Replacing the leather seats with cloth, maybe.

I am thinking about replacing the leather seats in my 92 LS-L with the cloth seats from a 92 SVX.

Well a lot of you may wonder why I would not like the leather. I think they are too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. It as easy as that.

I also think I will slide around less in the cloth seat while turning corners.

What I really want to know is this.
How would you rate the comfort of the 92 cloth seat?

The ones I am looking at are in a salvage yard and appear to be dirty but in good condition with no rips.

I also want to know if you think the cloth material is durable.

Thanks

I'm looking to replace my cloth seats with leather seats. Maybe we can work out a deal?

My SVX has cloth, but my Outback has leather, so I know a little about both.

The cloth is nicer as far as temperature goes: no burning in the summer, no ice cold butt in the winter. You also move around less in a cloth seat when you take tight corners

The leather is nicer to sit on as far as comfort, but not by much. The SVX seat in general is rather comfy I think.

Anywho, I prefer the look of the leather seats over the cloth. That's why I want to change them.

Maybe a trade? Well what do the 94 seats look like? Ah you got a power cable/connector under hte carpet for the driver seat?

I spend about 3 hrs a day in the SVX. I am over the look part of the seats. I am after the comfort.

I like the SVX movies you got in your locker.
I have seen both since I learn of them from you.

I have some cloth seats in my attic your welcome to. If you don't like 'em just give 'em back. They are overall in fairly nice shape. There is a cig burn in the rear seat but other than that and a clean up you should be fine. They are out of a 95. Didn't know that 92s even had a cloth option. I thought just the L's did. Personally I love them compared to the leather in the Legacy. If your in no hurry which it sounds like is the case you could get 'em at reading should you want them.

Bob,

That is so very kind of you. I really do appreciate the offer. Do you happen to have a picture? I have seen different cloth seats and the ones by me have a leather looking material on the outside panels of the seat with cloth on the inside center panel.

The only drawback about going to Reading to get the seats is I won't be in the SVX.

Hahahah

Sorry to jump in boys.

92 models did not come with cloth seats. Select 92s did come with fake seude seats.

Some 94+ models (94L etc) came with cloth seats. They are actual cloth seats. They are totally different from the 92 non leather seats.

Just to let you know. If you want pictures, I can post some.

Of course I don't have a pic. I'm too lazy about scanning and uploading pics and am not a big fan of digital cameras. The quality does nothing for me. These are your standard fake leather on the sides. A grey tweed I guess you'd call it in the middle. They're here if ya want 'em if not they'll be here in 10 years probably too. They're just kind of a back up now. I just upgraded to ones a little less worn (not that these are bad but they do have 140k on them).

I have a pic of my '92 fake suede seats:

(if you can see around the giant gourd)

I found a pic of cloth seats in AnthraXFan's locker:
'96 SVX cloth seats

I really like the suede seats, they're soft and fuzzy and my legs don't stick to them when I'm wearing shorts.

Hey, it's clean and on a sheet (tried to tuck it in for the pick, but you can see a corner) and it didn't weigh much over 100lbs.

Okay the seats being considered look like the ones in 96 picture but the car they are in has no passenger air bag, has auto shoulder belts, no sun roof and is FWD.

Bob, If you got seats that look like the 92's please let me know as I would like to come and get them soon. I like those a lot.

Thanks a bunch for posting the pictures.

Mike,

I assume it should be pretty easy to convert the cloth seats so that they are motorized (If we can rip the motors off). What do you think?

You know, the 94 LS has completely faux suede (escaline sp?) seats (not just in the middle of the seats like that pic). I think they look really good; I have the light beige though, so I don't know how the gray looks.
