not to sound like stephen king or anything, but i've seen and done some strange things in life.

when i first saw that picture, there was no way in ****, i would have thought that was a wine box. it looks more like an altar of some sort. very many similar altars can be found in different asian cultures.

if the story is true, i don't know why he's selling it on ebay. i would find a way to destroy it, unless he has already tried.

i would never buy anything that belonged to someone that died. whether it's a house, clothes, or antiques like that. not doing it. bad experiences don't want anymore .

would be interesting to donate that box to a synagogue and see what happens.

spirits and demons do exist.

I think the wine rack is just protesting the fact that the sales of Boxes-O-Wine have skyrocketed in this country and that wine racks are viewed as obsolete technology and quickly being discarded. Even the rich are purchasing wine cooler rooms which are the modern equivalent of wine cellars.
Isn't that right, Ron?

I'm with ya man! Although I've been lucky enough to not experience anything TOO far out there myself. I'm very interested in that kind of stuff and always trying to find some unrefutable evidence that would prove these kinds of things truly do exist beyond any shadow of doubt.

hey mac, if you look hard enough, you will find some strange things. unfortunately, some of these things happen so fast that you won't have time to try to document it until after it takes place. at a very young age, i've been fascinated with death which has led me to search for people of the like and share in some of their knowledge. i wouldn't recommend it unless you are willing to accept the results (positive or negative).

was going to tell you where to start, probably better not to .

Yeah, right now I think I kinda prefer to stay on the sidelines and hear about other people's experiences (books, web sites, TV specials, etc, anything to any of that stuff, IYO?). There's a couple of "ghost hunter" groups in our area and my wife and I have considered going out on a hunt with them sometime, I don't know...

Just being involved with the people on these forums is enough to convince me that "strange things" do exist.

Well I've always tried to catch those shows on TV, ever since I was a kid, where they talk about "true" hauntings, and yeah, especially in recent years, they always have the video cameras, still cameras, etc trying to catch things. Usually they get the orbs, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. They never seem to be able to catch something on tape quite as dramatic as some of the accounts the people that live there talk about (like seeing dead people, etc). They usually air these kinds of shows around Halloween time on the cable channels. Interesting stuff to think about, even if most of the "scare factor" is just the dramatizations they make to introduce each case.

As far as ghost hunters in my area, there are a couple groups in Seattle that we've heard about. Like you said, they pretty much go to a place that is reported haunted with the fancy cameras, meters, and sometimes a psychic or two.

Yeah I know, I guess with all the equipment the point is to find the more obscure things, like temperature changes in a room, or capturing orbs on camera that the people in the room didn't see at the time. Probably part of it too is to hope to catch something on film that could be undisputable proof these things exist, but really hasn't happened yet. Anyway, the best way is probably to experience these things yourself.

I recommend that anybody interested in ghosts approaches the subject with a healthy dose of skepticism. Most claims of ghosts - particularly those made by seemingly scholarly people - can sound quite convincing, but make sure you approach such claims without a preconceived notion that they are true. Approach them understanding that they may or may not be true, and determine for yourself, as thoroughly as possible, which probability has more evidence supporting it.

Well said Nick. I think this type of thing definitely has to be approached that way (and even then, the only evidence that could truly convince you of the truth may have to be experiencing something for yourself).

The same goes for a ton of other things: religion, probably over 50% of scientific "fact", which car companies are better than others, to name a few.
