desicions desicions discisions

At a cross roads guys.

The SVX needs:
Rotors - $215 which are on there way
Rack - $223
CV Boot(s) - probably $60 with whatever else is needed.
Possible Right Front Axle if damaged.
Tinting - On Hold

Tranny is unknown how long she will last. I don't run her hard at lights but do drive her 130+miles a day at 75+.

Here is the cross road.

Keep and fix her. $$$$$$$$$$$$
Sell her and hope she goes to a good home.
Donate her and hope she goes to a good home. Possible H.S. Project car.

Buy Recaro seat for Camry due to lower back issues. $1,600.

This will not be an easy one to make. I love her and she is great to drive. The seats, although not the greatest feel very good for my back. Thus the recaro. Can NOT drive Camry long without new seat.

I will keep you posted.

Ciao
Wayne

Wink

1. Fix the SVX - screw the tinting.
2. Sixteen hundred bucks for a recaro seat!!!??
3. Install a lazy-boy in the SVX.
4. Remain "oneofthefewproud" - no longer applicable
to a Camry driver.
Ron.

Hang on....

I'm in the same position, pending repairs to worry about...

I just think about my car, with tiny wheels and a black light glowing from underneath, with a "hard rock" lamp glowing out the back window.

I've already taken $20,000 in depreciation, to hell with the rest.
Tow it to the junk yard when I find the last uneconomical repair.

I've seen one just as you described (except the back window thing). Kentucky plates. Evansville, IN. Early last winter. I got him to pull over and talk about his car. He'd just gotten it (a red '93) and had already managed to find spacers and RWD wheels for all four corners. He was pretty surprised when I told him it was AWD. ( ! ) It was all very sad. Don't let it happen to you!

Wayne,
When I ruptured a disc in '99, it was agony to get in and out of Super Ru. I also entertained ideas of letting her go. Praise be, before I ever made a decision, my back began to improve and all my experiences with her (the car... guys, the CAR!) have seemed even sweeter since I toyed with the idea of letting her go...hang in there!

Unhappy

Someone with room for storage might get that much easily just selling spares. I'd like to encourage someone here to jump on this. We don't want to lose track of this one, right?

Steve,

I would part her out if I had the room to keep her. The engine alone goes for 1500 if not more. I was hoping someone in here might be able to take her and part her out.

THe ALternator only has 47k on it. got it used form a guy form the Yahoo site and works great. The tires are in excellent condition. The tires have alot of miles leff on them.

The only other parts that are not usable are the power antenna and the Truck struts.

It does have the Rear spoiler in BLACK. I know someone was looking for one in black. Beauty condition.

Thanx all
Wayne.

Darn it!

Now if this opportunity only came up about 6 months down the road! My long term plans are to buy another SVX that "needs lots of help" and turn it into a full fledged race car. I am tired of running my 16 second daily driver at the track and want to build as unique of a race-car as I have helped to build my dads: 1974 AMC Gremlin (13.5 seconds @ 100mph) Oh well... Will just have to wait for the "right time"

I am working on trying to make contact with Mr. Frank Aragoni and his 8 second SVX powered dragster. For anyone interested, he is STILL #1 in the nationals in his class

Chris

Back problems?
I have them. If I don't do sit-ups and push-ups everyday I am reminded that I have a back problem. Something about the stomach muscles being connected to the back muscles.

Real sorry to hear about the car. Sounds as though someone else thinks it is a bad idea. Is it paid for? Of course it is. There are only so many things that can wear out on the car. I figure that if repairs run less than $400 a month I am ahead of the game. After all the parts are replaced it should be as good as new? No? Besides whereelse am I going to find a car that get 25 mpg and is fast? I also think I am alot safer in the SVX than a Camry.
