Brake Pads....Opinion
Here are my questions to all you veteran SVX owners who run either cross drilled or slotted rotors.
What are the best brake pads? Ceramic, Semi Organic? Semi-Metallic? Organic? What works best with cross drilled rotors? Any data? Who has good rotors that won't break the bank? |

The best rotors to get are the Slotted ONLY... Cross Drilled doesn't do all that much for ya... Slotted however works really great... Axis Meatal Master pads are suppose to be the best all around pads that we can get for cheap... I have seen race pads but they are rediculasly expensive... Also OEM pads seem to do just fine but they dust like crazy though!!! (especially if you have Slotted rotors...)

I have EBC Greenstuff on grooved rotors. No complaints at all. Good performance, no fade and almost dust-free.

Endless
Everyone seems to agree that they are too expensive (and they are!) but I'll be getting Endless pads very soon. They'll be on the stock rotors though. Check out their website because they have pads for lots of different uses.

I have Axxis Ultimate pads in the front, and Axxis Metal Master in the back, with iRotors Crossdrilled and slotted, and Im not that impressed with the setup...which is less than 2 weeks old. The culprit may however be a problem with the calipers, not gripping hard enough or something, cause the brakes arent that confidence inspiring at the moment

http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?halistan If you want some info on all the rotor types here is some good info. http://www.raceconcepts.net/rotor101.php Its up to you. They both stop great but from everything i have read the cross drilled disapate heat better which saves them more from warping, they are quieter than slotted and slotted go through brake pads faster. The choice is yours but these are the reasons I went with cross drilled and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. ~Ray

cross-drilled rotors will crack easier - that's a fact. some rotors have 'dimples' in them for the cross-drilled bling-effect look, but without the cracking. i don't like warped rotors, much less cracked ones, so that is why i chose slotted.

I have cross-drilled, slotted rotors from MotorSports which I have been very very happy with.
My pads are from Meineke with lifetime warranty. Went back to them 2 years after install and they told me they were like new. I have no reason to doubt them, because I have no problems. ~~Michelle

I have rotors from raceconcepts.net. They're great. I have crap pads. I'd like to get EBC greenstuff pads, but the USA division of EBC is full of complete idiots and they couldn't tell me which pad to order.

I run KVR drilled rotors and KVR carbon fiber pads. Almost 2 years and no warping or grooving so far.

I've always like solid rotors, motul brake fluid, ss brake lines, and some Axxis or Cobalt brake pads.
But you can argue solid vs slotted vs crossdrilled all day |
