getting attention

Made my first trip through the bank drive-up with the SVX today. Four women were standing in the window by the time I left.

Cool, very cool.

It can be an attention-getter, that's for sure. Makes me wonder how Subaru could botch the marketing of a car so many find eye-catching.

I have a story that shows the flipside. I'm storing my car at a freind's house. He's seen it several times and now it's in his garage. On Thursday I took him to lunch in the car, and on the trip home he points to the split in the window and says, 'oh, hey, this is different!'

Again, .

Right, and not everybody's into cars or notices them at all (hence the guy who just merged into your lane right next to you).

But it was an interesting contrast to the first reaction most people have when they see the SVX.

You mean there's a SPLIT in the window????
Funny, I don't even notice it any more.

I bought the SVX because I'm a Subaru fan (rare in these parts), I like driving something different, and it's simply one of the most beautiful cars I've seen. (Besides, a new, comparably-equipped and capable car of any stripe would have cost ten times what I paid for the SVX.) Getting noticed at the bank yesterday was an experience to which I'm not accustomed, having driven world-weary Subies for years.

To flip that nickel, mine is surely the only SVX within 100 miles; suffice it to say that I'd previously seen only one, and that was a glimpse from a distance across a highway in southern Vermont. In this area where every third car on the road is a white '97 Lumina, I almost feel too conspicuous.

SOA is headquartered in Atlanta. You think they would push Subaru sales in Georgia to make their presence known. I guess they are too busy schmoozing with Chevrolet. Like you said, every third car is a Lumina!!!

Had my then-wife and I not moved to a remote area with a steep, gravel driveway and occasional light snow, we probably would never have considered the AWD '86 GL wagon we eventually bought. (I shudder to think that we actually test-drove a Ford Bronco II.)

And that's the story with Subaru sales in the southeast.

The SVX looks fast standing still. Unfortunately when you're doing 35 it makes you look like you're doing faster than that. Be careful, I'll probably lose my license for a few months because of this car.

The folks that handle delivery of vehicles to dealers is currently located in Atlanta. They used to be in Columbia, MD. This is why I said SOA should be pushing sales in Georgia.

Are you sure that its the cars fault, and not the fact that you were speeding?

They are headquarted in Cherry Hill, NJ. There is an RDC facility in Atlanta, though.
