225/60/16 Tires too big?

I found some really nice used tires for $150 bucks. BUT, they are 225/60's. Is this too tall for the a stock svx?

Thanks

They're going to be a couple centimeters taller. My guess is that they might fit, but at the least your speedometer is going to be way off.

I had either 225/55 or 225/60 on my svx when I bought it. Whichever they were, they rubbed during hard cornering and even worse when I had passengers in back.

tire size calculator

I know this doesn't help you figure out if the tires will fit on your car, but it will help you figure how far off your speedometer will be if you switch from stock tire size. Much easier than calculating it yourself.

With 225/60-16's you are approximately 7% faster than the speedometer indicates.

Stock tire height - 24.86"
225/60-16 height - 26.63"

I hate it when I see people trying to save a couple bucks by doing something like this. If you cant afford a set of tires of the correct size for your SVX, then getting it was probably a bad idea.

For safety reasons I would not recommend putting on different tires other than those that are required on stock wheels... I got to agree with Mike...Get some tires that are supposed to fit..

Wow, that's too bad, since I wanted to save a few bucks on some tires, I guess I will just have to roll the svx off a cliff because I can't afford it.

I'm just kidding with you, Mike.

But it is quite common to put on different tires on stock wheels. I have done it, in fact, on every car I have owned. Sometimes it is to save a few bucks, sometimes for better performance. I figured 60 series tires would be too big, but I thought I'd ask. By the way what is the stock size tires for the svx? 225/50/16? I guess I will just spend about 300 more dollars to get the "correct" size.

Thanks for the replies.

People have successfully used 245 45 16's on the stock svx wheel.

The following tire sizes are very similar in terms of height:

205/55-16
225/50-16
245/45-16

I've run 225/50/16 225/55/16 and 225/60/16. I dont understand why it would be unsafe. Your speedo is going to be off slightly, but as long as you have the same speed rating on the tire it should be fine. Save the 300 and go buy me some christmas presents!
