Ha! Cool!

Man, I miss living near Detroit - I used to see pre-production cars all the time...even cars that seemed to be brought here from other countries by the manufacturers for whatever reasons. Last summer, I kid you not, I saw three Vauxhall 220s / Opel Speedsters on the freeway a mile from my house. I saw an Alfa 156 very early one morning on the way to Amber's school.

Definitely not a z06...looks to be a proto c6. z06's are coupes, not hatchbacks.

Definitely cool to be aroud the Detroit area. I have seen a couple of prototype cars running around I-75 near Detroit when I am up at school. I just wish I could work at GM proving rounds like some of my friends do. It would be awesome to be around that stuff all the time.

it looks like a cross between a Z06, a Viper, a 360 Modena and an RX7...

WOW you are a lucky one...

That is in fact a Corvette C6. You can tell because it's built on a "platform" and not a "body" like the C5 cars (discernable in that pic because of the separated front and rear subframes, and the C-pillar separation from the quarter). It's not a Z06 cause it's missing the brake cooling ducts. However you can get a Z06 in any of the three available models (hatch, coupe, convertible). Can't wait for that car to hit the streets though.

Thats exactly what I was thinking as I scanned across the photo.

Oh, it's a 360, but it's got Vette side vents, now whats with the viper nose?

ah youre right about the nose. i thought that was just from the angle.
people were starting to complain of how the body styling of the vette hasnt changed enough, but it seems there isnt much to improve upon.

ick. that mirror sure is ugly.
perhaps they leave intentional flaws so they can fix'em in the next model.

do you think its possible to change it without making it look like something else out there and keep its trademarks?
its not a vette without the round lights in back.

best vette ever: 1981 Greenwood Daytona.

I think that the corvette in general is one of the only American cars I would think of buying. It's pretty cool looking. It's a shame the interior is so crappy.

I find it amazing how susceptible people are to "image promotion". Like how so many people on this site think american cars are substandard just because they are american. Especially while most of those who make the comments really have no clue what they are even talking about. How many of you have actually driven a 2000 or newer Corvette? Better yet, how many of you have even seen the interior on one? Everyone has this opinion that American cars are just not built as good as japanese or european cars. Well I've got news for you folks...consumer reports published their reliability ratings for the 40 largest automakers in the world. The results astounded most consumers. In the top ten were Cadillac and Pontiac. Not subaru. Ford and Chrysler both fell in the 20-30 ranking...which is well ahead of Land Rover (34) and Mercedes Benz (31).

My girlfriend has spent almost as much money fixing her SVX as i did BUYING my GTP, which is more comfortable, faster, and even gets better gas mileage. Oh but the SVX is better quality. Yeah you should hear the symphony of creaks, cranks, and thumps when she drives down an average PA road. The GTP? Nothing.

In the end it all comes down to Image. Just like VW. So many people think that VW's are some of the most reliable and well built cars on the road, when in reality they have scored next to last in every major quality and reliability test there is. But hey their advertisements say they're reliable, so they must be, right?

Stop watching TV and join the real world.
