Thumbs up I took a ride on my Scooter, for the first time!

You might remember I had a little side project, a 1968 Czechoslavakian Tatran 125. Little scooter with 7hp, 4spd transmision, etc etc.

Anyway, I got it running about a month ago, but haven't done much to it since. Yesterday, I finished rewiring it all, so now everything works on it except the brake light... I have high/low beam, pilot light, speedo light, turn signals, etc etc.

I couldn't get it to rev, so I messsed with the ignition advance, and finally got it revving. Well. Time for a ride.

Seeing as how I'm not used to a 30+ yr old scooter clutch, I killed it my first try. So the second try, I gave her more gas, and let the clutch out a bit faster.

HOLY CRAP! I popped a wheelie ON MY SCOOTER, and flew across my dad's yard and intot he neighbors yard. WEEE!

I then took it for a little ride up the street and hit a maxiumum of about 30mph in 2nd gear. I STILL HAVE TWO MORE GEARS! WOOHOO! Anyway, this thing is FUN. Today I'm going to change the oil and tune it so it runs better.

Later!

- Rob

remember the joke, Rob - a scooter is like a fat chick: fun to ride, but you don't want your friends to see you on it.

i'm probably gonna catch hell for that one!

<Rob>
transplant in a torquey TWELVE hp engine, and with the better power-to-weight ratio, the Tatran can smoke an SVX 0-60.
