A few things: I know this road extremely well. There is almost never anybody on it, nor are there any driveways or cross roads. So basically, its one big long straight piece of asphalt. THe speed limit is 55mph. Near the end of the video, it enters the outskirts of a town, in an industrial park. The industrial park is ONE business, and then there is even more land before you come near a house. Also, I've travelled this road well over 100 times, and not seen ONE animal. Ever. I've also been over 100 on this road ..eh... more than 50 times. It's perfect for high speed, except for the rather sharp turn near the end. And I'd rather do a speed run at night, that way you can see an oncoming car from REAAALLLY far away.

Anyway.... does this seem slow to anyone? Or is that normal SVX acceleration... from a steady 90mph.

Thanks

Mine accelerates really slowly past about 105 or so. I think you're OK.

I don't think the AC was on. That was in December I think.

i concur my svx is a lot faster from 100-125, i'dve been to 135 in the time it took rob to get to 125....

how clean was your air filter?
do you have a power robbing exhaust?
power robbing WAI?

were your wheel bearings bad? they will put a lot of drag on the car if they are

Air filter should be pretty clean. Exhaust is stock, but it has a leak in it near the middle somewhere.... and I don't know what a WAI is. And no, my bearings are fine.

I don't know... it seemed to normal acceleration to me. I think it may have even seemed faster over 110 than mine did when it was in better shape with only 65,000 miles on it. However, it is hard to tell, since your perception when actually doing it seems to change. I felt like it took ages to get from 120 to 125 when I've done it... probably due to those couple cars that I couldn't see seconds ago, were getting closer REALLY fast! So Rob, was the tranny "acting fast" at that time? You've never been beaten by a Z24 at those kind of speeds, have you?

No, I think I'd destroy a Z24 at those speeds.

Water to Air intercooler? WAI

Speed limits seem to be for bad handling cars. I'v found that I can comfortable cruise at with in 10Mph of double the posted speed limit. The road I drive to work every day is a nice twisty, wide, uncrowded road that I'v never seen a speed trap on in 5years. The speed limit is mostly 45mph but I cruise it at 80mph normal speed, at that speed I have had to slow down or manuver for many an animal or moron sitting in the middle of the road around the blind corners, and can do it non-dramatically. If I'm feeling really fiesty I up it to 90-100mph but only on the long corners, and I always drive as if someone or something could be sitting around the next corner, and so far it has been working for me for the past 10years. Unfortunatlly the police don't agree with my speed limit veiws.

yeah, I know what you mean. The police don't seem to agree with my speed limit view, either. Thank god there weren't any around the only time I did 140 in a 55.

Hey, when you live in the rural part of West Virginia, it takes about 30 minutes to get to the highway. Who wants to do that? Just learn to handle it on the curvy mountain roads. Needless to say my tires don't last.

I agree with all the previous posts about making sure you've got plenty of road and you know it well. It is amazing how fast things happen at 125+ (this includes coming up on cars going 65, deers crossing the road, etc.) I've found that the SVX wants to go airborne over 120 if the road has serious changes in inclination (i.e., hills) and I'm not partial to replacing my entire exhaust system (note: do not touch the brakes when this happens, just back off of the gas )
