Unhappy My Car Stinks

I just got the car back from the body shop. They did a great job of repair to sections of the car that had been damaged by people backing into me. The car looks great agian but a strange odor comes from the bottom of the car after the car heats up.
It stinks bad like the smell of old rollercoaster. I have to clean the engine bay because there is a lot of dirt in there. It could be from the last oil change that they might have spilled some but I don't see any smoke when I open the hood. I should jack up the car and take a look from underneath, maybe oil dripped on the exhast shields.
Anyone have suggestions for cleaning the bay? What are some good products to use? Can I hose down the engine with water without the risk of damaging anything?

Kev

Re: My Car Stinks

I'd pull into a self-spray car wash and spray tire cleaner, follwed by water, along the undercarriage.

Sienfield

That was a funny episode, only it's not the inside that smells, it's the outside. It smells like burning oil and hot metal. I've checked all the fluids and they all look good. I've checked leaks too.

Sounds like a valve cover leaking onto a cat. It'll give you a nice burning oil hot metal smell.
