Sti 08 rear brakes to svx ???

How Impreza sti 08 rear brakes differ from svx rear brakes? Are there any possibilities to install rear sti discs and calibers to svx rears? Those are 114.3.

i bought some 06 sti rears planning on doing this conversion, these can be made to fit very easily, you just need to press out the drive flanges fro myour svx hubs and the sti rear hubs, un bolt both backing plates, put the sti backing plates on the svx hubs, then re assemble and bleed brakes etc.

Any update of this? Does someone have more information about this or how-to-do document somewhere?

I've done this to my svx, it really is just a case of simply buying backing plates, rotors and calipers for an sti and fitting them up and you have sti rear calipers that go nicely with my brembo 6 pot front caliper kit, see the link below;

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60338

but as far as a how to do document it would be this;

1. remove hub from car
2. separate dive shaft from drive flange
3. press out drive flange
4. disassemble handbrake assembly
5. remove four bolts attaching backing plate to hub
6. install new sti backing plate
7. install handbrake assembly
8. press in drive flange
9. install hub to car
10. fit new sti rotor DBA part number dba4655-10
11. fit new sti brembo caliper and bleed

thats just off the top of my head but i don't think i missed anything

i was thinking of using the complete hub assembly off an sti but the strut mount sits forward of the the svx hub which would move the angle of the of the strut and i'm not sure how this would affect suspension geometry

Re: Sti 08 rear brakes to svx ???

I just bought 2pot sti brembo calipers to rear from 04 sti (these was test fitted to -06 5x114.3 brakes and fit). I thought every 5x114.3 sti rear brembos were same but now when I am buying discs I was told that -06 and -08-> discs are different. What discs I should now buy or are my calipers even wrong to fit to svx?

Re: Sti 08 rear brakes to svx ???

The rotors from 05-07 are the right fit, 08 on rotors are the same except for hat height (front rotors are still the same) 05-07 hat height is 67.5 where as 08 on hat height is 63.5 a four mm difference

DBA sell multi fit rotors to suit 02-07 part number dba4655-10 the 10 means 10 holes 5x100 and 5x114.3

08 on part number is dba42656-1 (not the one you want)

Hope that helps

or depending on what your looking for they make parking brake adapters to use the sti rotors with our 170mm drum. that way you can use any rear sti rotor with the correct bolt spacing

Re: Sti 08 rear brakes to svx ???

thats good to know. I actually had alot of difficulty confirming this without taking apart my own vehicle. in that case we can just order napa part UP 880355. these come highly recommended from sti owners and are a very high quality rotor and at $52 each very affordable.

Are you sure about that? They might not be slotted or cross drilled, but they should be vented.

Re: Sti 08 rear brakes to svx ???

Great info for the rear rotors but I had a thought about our front rotors. As I understand, part of the problem w/upgrading the front is that the hat high was not compatible but I think that research maybe outdated because of the hat height increase in 08 and newer. I'm not a brake expert but just notice the hat height info located above in this thread. There may still be other issues that affect the upgrade but that's for member experts to comment on. I'm just noting the fact of the hat height increase occurred in 08 and on STI rear rotors. I don't know if rear rotors w/ or w/o veins and/or drilled or w/or w/o vents can be fitted to the front.

Re: Sti 08 rear brakes to svx ???

The front rotors have the same hat height from 2002 to current 2014 sti's. It's the diameter that is the issue
