starter mounting bolt
I just installed my new starter. The bottom bolt was barely holding on when I removed it. It's actually a stud that bottoms out inside the trans. The threads inside the trans are stripped. Plus it doesn't bottom out anymore. I was thinking of retapping it and using a bolt the same length and using locktite. Any suggestions? Anyone have a similar experience?

Re: starter mounting bolt
The stripped hole was about 10mm. I used a 7/16 tap (which is about 11mm) and used a bolt rather than a stud.
I guess a stud was used to make it easier to install the starter. That way you can rest the starter on the stud while threading into the top hole, then tighten a nut on the bottom stud. Anyway, it was a tight squeeze but all is done.
