Very cool. Is that where the mirrors are positioned from factory?

It's weird to see the spare tire in the engine bay like that on those older subies. What's the blue thingy in front of it?

Re: My latest Acquisition, 1983 RX Leone

very cool indeed, dont like the position of the side view mirrors though. I owned two 83 GL sedans, FWD only, one 81 GLF 5 speed coupe FWD, and an 84 GL-10 wagon 4WD Hi/Lo digital dash. Great cars, run forever, just fall victim to the rust demons. Would love to have one now with the high gas prices. I remember filling my tank with $11 back in 1998 when gas was a dollar a gallon.

I had the GLF in 1981. 5 speed 1800 FWD
( that blue thing is the aircleaner as of didn't know)
Great car got 41 MPG on a trip to PA and Again on a trip to Buffalo (40miles)
1 tank of gas. Why can't the build them like that anymore???

Re: My latest Acquisition, 1983 RX Leone

I had an '83 wagon, same motor, same air cleaner, same spare. Nice! I never got 41 mpg, though. I liked how I could adjust the ride height in the rear. Nice car but not the solid build of newer Subarus, IMO. Used to really rattle on gravel/washboard roads. Never fell apart like it sounded like it would, though.

You're dating yourself way too much...

It's the air cleaner/air filter housing above the carbs.

Very Cool. I owned an 88 RX 3 door. It was definitely the most fun car i've ever owned despite only having 114hp.

That's just because you never owned yourself a Brat with 73hp It is too bad Subaru's history rotted away so fast that their current designers can't emulate what made those ea81s and ea82s so great.

Yes Factory placement. Not too fussed on them. Makes it really hard to see. can't seem to adjust the drivers side one.

Uhhhh, they didn't, you just live on the wrong coast! I STILL have my '84 turbo wagon, though she doesn't see much road time any more.

OP, your RX looks awesome! I would love, love, love to import one of those! How often do they come up for sale in your neck of the woods?

Do you mean my RX? Not often. Only about 16 were brought out here new in 1983. I believe about half ended up as rally cars.
A few 2nd hand Jap imports were brought in too.

This is the 3rd one I've actually seen in real life.
Seen another in the grey ( Guy owned it since new in 83, looks a bit ruffer than mine ) and a White one driving down the road never to be seen again.
