RENEWED my FAITH

Well my faith in the forum has been renewed. Thanks to a man call AFbeefcake. I purchased a 1994 SVX from him. when I went to see it and test drive it he informed me that before I took delivery he was going to remove his huge stereo that I asked him to do , and replace it with a new radio , he also said the timing belt need replacement along with gears and rollers, he would do it before delivery and it need new front wheel bearings and he would get that fixed and have it aligned . He dropped it off, I got it registered. I drove it today on it's maiden voyage. I drove it approx 50 miles of mostly Stop and go in town driving. Started it 12 times during the day . On my way home I rounded a corner put in the clutch and the car died. Lucky I was only one block from home.I crawled under the dash looking for what I may have hit with my foot and saw nothing. I had visions of never hearing it run again I panicked, called AFbeefcake on the phone to ask him if he had any idea what it could be, I saw some unplugged wires etc. and I asked about them. Before I could say another word he says I am coming over. Not a small task as he lives 60 miles away. He arrived an hour and a 1/2 later crawled under the dash and discovered the stage 1.5 chip had fallen out of the ECU ( note here: If you did this upgrade HOT glue the board in place they can fall out) I was back on the road. This is the way we keep the cars on ther road and running . THANKS ARRON!

Re: RENEWED my FAITH

Yea he's a real good guy. I have found that most people on the SVX forums are very good people to deal with. You have to be really into the cars to be around here in the first place. I had a good experience buying some parts from him as well.

Congrats on getting what I thought was one of the nicer cars for sale. Someone's got the sickness now... only a matter of time before you wake up one morning and there are 18 outside like Earl. What's going to happen with your pearly?

Did you get the rims he had on it too? Those were a really nice fit for the car I thought.

I had a very similar experience about 4 days after I finished the 6-speed swap into my blue car, where I accidentally kicked one of the ECU plugs loose (the one for the injectors and COPs); I guess it hadn't gotten plugged in quite all the way when the TCU was taken out and the ECU switched with the one from my '92 that had the ECUtune chip. Spent about 3 hours in the hot sun diagnosing before finding that it was just a loose plug... not fun. The ECU is close enough to your feet that when you get a 3rd pedal in there it can get kicked around a bit.

Re: RENEWED my FAITH

I have to get rid of the pearlie.... sad day had her for 17 years. and 78,000 miles . runs like a top but has multiple small issues .
YES the rims are on it too. a wild machine with all the ignition up grades . Pulls like a freight train in all gears. Feels like a different car from my pearlie SVX auto.

Re: RENEWED my FAITH

Congratulations! I am also glad to hear you have new faith in the site. It isn't the forum like I have mentioned in the past, but the members here. Yes, there may be a bad one here and there, but for the most part, they are good.

A friend of mine saw you driving it today and called me! He lives outside of Torrington.

Re: RENEWED my FAITH

YEA I drew quite a bit of attention . I got a lot of thumbs up. The color and the sound draws your attention. Tell him to stop me some time or honk. Amazing how the 18 year old car still looks so modern. A friend asked me what year it was . When I told her she thought I was kidding.

Yup, I got that all the time people couldn't blieve it was a 1994.

The sound that that car makes with the stebro on it is one of the biggest things I will miss about it.

Just take it though a tunel with the windows down, instant .
