Tension pulley stops spinning

My tension pulley stops spining on and off? Does this mean I need an entire new pulley or are the bearing just worn?

Re: Tension pulley stops spinning

The AC tensioner pulley recently seized on one of mine. Chunks of the bearing race fell out of the thing when I took it off. Forty-something bucks + shipping from subaruparts.com for the whole deal (sorry I don't have a part number at hand). This one did have a snap ring retaining the bearing, so I imagine the bearing could be replaced. Don't know about sourcing or how the cost would compare.

Re: Tension pulley stops spinning

if you can read the number on the bearing you can get one from napa. they stock lots of bearing but don't list them for svx applications. the part numbers on bearings actually give you the size and type of bearing so they should be able to give you the right one.

Re: Tension pulley stops spinning

thanks for the info. the pulley needed was the PS/ALT tensioner pulley: Subaru part 34413PA001.
I replaced the pulley and now it doesn't seize anymore, however the pulley still makes a noise almost as if it wanted to seize again. The pulley is not firm even if I tighten the nut all very tight. It has some wobble to it and I know it should be firm. the washer that goes before the nut is there where it belongs so i'm not sure what the problem could be as to why it doesn't sit firm.
