Re: New Stereo for my SVX

There was plenty of clearance on the grommet for the steering rack to punch it through.
Everything is ziptied neatly under the hood and it doesn't rub or touch anything.

I then fallow the factory wire down the driver side under the carpet next to the door. It then comes out under the back seat fallowing the factory wire to the trunk.

I am not a big fan of making holes.

Re: New Stereo for my SVX

No disassembly required other than removing the radio cage and the tweeters.
All I needed to take off to do the radio cage was the the ashtray.
Tweeter come out with very small flathead screwdriver. just pry them up gently little bit at a time.

Here is a shot of under the hood where I punched the power wire through:

Some more under dash pics fallowing power wire to the kick panel:

Grounds in trunk. This is where your jack would normally be.

Re: New Stereo for my SVX

So my Orion 225 felt like it was getting a bit warm to me after a 2 hour ride yesterday so decided to do something about it tonight.

I removed factory trunk Carpet.
That stuff is very thick and insulated.
I don't think any air was getting through it.
Plus I was unwilling to use it for what I had planned...See Below

Re: New Stereo for my SVX

I ran my wire through the drain hole for the A/C hole is already there and a little working allows you to run the wire down the side of the car along the door to the trunk. I also ran the RCA wires down the center console. Also you run wires through the trunk you don't have to make a hole the wires can be fed through. I am not criticizing you, I am impressed with you work in the trunk and the Amps.

Re: New Stereo for my SVX

Got a pic of where the drain hole for the AC is?
We looked all over the firewall for an open hole, didn't see one.

I didn't drill any holes to get into the trunk, I just went along the factory wiring, there is a rather large openings on the side.

RCA are wired down the right hand side under the sills the same way the power wire is ran on the opposite side of the car. Same with speaker and tweeter wires.

Center of the car was used to run the din cable down the center console on passenger side for the DEQ.

Left side of console was used to run mic cable for the DEQ's AutoEQ DSP Positioning Senor.

Wire then runs up through the seat:

Left a small loop of Wire at bottom so that I can still move the seat around.

Close up:

Re: New Stereo for my SVX

We tackled another project last night, after we got done with the fans...

I wanted the interior lighting to be red.
I got some sheets of red stage gels.
Made borders out of plastic and glued the gels onto them.
Put one on the dome light, the 2 floor lights, the door lights, and the trunk light.

These pics are taken with a Samsung SL620 Point and Shoot.
It is not the best choice for nighttime no flash photography.
Thing is great for nighttime flash, pics come out like daylight on smart auto.

Red Stage Gel:

Anyways onto the results:

Better Pics with tripod.
I liked the way the red door light is being reflected, off the wheels.

I left the Spot/map Lamps white. I like having the option of white light when needed.

Installed Red LED floor lights front and back.
Pics taken at 8pm, close to dark outside, with long shutter, they are more red in real life:
