Door Glass Weather Strip Appearance

Should you encounter a complaint of door glass weather strip deformity in the upper rear corner of either door on a 1992 Subaru SVX, you may find that the spacer in that area is missing. The weather strip has been modified in production since May of 1992, however, prior to this modification it may have been necessary to replace the entire weather strip in order to improve its appearance. Complete weather strip replacement is no longer necessary; a replacement spacer is now available through the Technical Services Helpline.

SPACER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1) Gently pull the upper rear corner of the affected weather strip back.
2) Clean the area where the old spacer was attached with a degreasing agent such as rubbing alcohol.
3) Apply a small amount of adhesive (a "SUPER" glue may be used) to the recessed portion of the spacer as shown in the figure.
4) Place the spacer in the previously cleaned area making sure that the inner lip of the weather strip completely overlaps the recessed portion of the spacer.
5) Remove any excess adhesive and gently refit the upper rear corner of the weather strip.

FLAT RATE INFORMATION

This repair can be claimed under the Subaru Warranty using the information:
