OT's sazal.. rear diff bushes fix
Hey everyone, I have some OEM bushes which were bloody expensive and I don't understand how the old ones can be taken out and new ones pushed in with out dismantling everything and getting too time consuming (but of course doing the job properly)
I was wondering if anyone had pictures of this tool and/or the steps for getting this done Much appreciated, Jordan. |

well your going to have to drop the rear diff down to get the old ones out. then pop the old rubber out and take a sawzall and make a cut in the old metal ones. then its just a matter of prying the old metal out. to put the new ones in grease the outer metal and inner of the rear subframe. u can use a "C" clamp to press them in.

I yanked my muffler and got to them fine. That's one clamp and four hangers.
I don't understand why yanking the diff is the wacha-gotta-do?

how did you get them out without cutting them? there pressed in from the factory and rust in there, so you usually need to cut them after your remove the rear diff...

Oh, I cut 'em all right! I s'poze if you were looking to do an elegant press-out job that having the diff out of the way would be beneficial, but I had these cut out in just a couple of minutes after the muffler was off and the fasteners for the diff bushings were undone. You know how big that muffler is... It leaves a lot of room to swing a sawzall around in there.

Re: OT's sazal.. rear diff bushes fix
So you can get the old bushings out without dropping the diff. I just confirmed this myself. But how do you press in the new ones with it in the way? You just can't come at it straight on with a c-clamp.
Almost 1am, this is more than a passing curiosity.
