Another great investment by GM!

Yep, they killed another one. Maybe if they priced it right someone would've bought it but I guess getting nothing for your investment is better business. I know most Saab buyers cross shop at a Chevy dealer.

Ugly yes, Unique yes. Unfortunately pretty soon everyone will have some version of the same plastic disposable p.o.s.

Tom-

The pre-GM saabs were very unique and quite innovative. They were not "seriously disgusting" by any means. At least, not in my opinion. The GM Saabs are horrible, though. (Excluding the NG93 Turbo X)

Re: Another great investment by GM!

I was thinking that the new 9^5 was really looking good... although a sedan, it had a slight air of SVX's uniqueness to it.

The wide tail lights, and sleek headlights. The wrapped dash. The clean, dignified, modern styling. The impression of competent, smooth performance... even AWD optional.

I still think Subaru should buy the Saab name, and design aesthetics... and up-scale the existing Subaru line.

GR-impreza -> upsize to new Saab 900 in place of 9^3
BM-Legacy/Outback -> chassis re-bodied with new 9^5 clothes, called 9000
Coupe based on GR Impreza goes to new SVX/RS Coupe, and 900 Coupe/Convertible.

Tribeca moves to Saab entirely, if Subaru doesn't want to keep going with it... with good styling like the 9^5, (supposedly the 9^4 CUV was ready, but held back to not up-stage the new Caddy SRX... and it looks like they held on a tad too long....) as a Saab CUV.

Saab could be Subaru's answer to Acura, Infiniti, and Audi, since Subaru is seemingly faltering on their move up-market under the pleiades badge itself, and turning to focus on Camry/Accord for Legacy, and Mazda 3 for Impreza.

Re: Another great investment by GM!

I owned a 1967 SAAB Monte Carlo GT, V-4, 2-door sedan. Unique-yes, ugly-hell yes; but it could go and handle in all kinds of lousy weather. It had a stage II tune kit (bigger carb jets & racier cams). It was a 4-speed. I could blow the doors off Rambler sixes any time (stop laughing). It was a great rally and autocross car. The SAAB Sonnet I was a 2-seater version of my car with a fiberglas sportscar body. I do not know about GM SAABS but I loved my SAAB.

Re: Another great investment by GM!

I like Boxerfanatic's idea.

I also thought Porsche should have bought Subaru when GM was selling it's intrest instead of the now failed attempt at taking over VW.

Re: Another great investment by GM!

I'll miss Saab but not the a$$hats that own them (think douchebag)

My dad was going to buy a 9-7 once just due to the fact that he was in the market for a Trailblazer and the Saab version was much nicer inside and rode much better. In the end it was a better deal on the Chevy that won him over.

Re: Another great investment by GM!

I just heard that Spyker made a new offer to GM to buy SAAB which addresses the 11 sticking points of the old offer. I sure hope Spyker is successful. I would hate to see SAAB die.
