snow bashing

since school was cancelled due to snowstorm, near blizzard conditions with a high of +4f and several inches of snow, I couldn't stay inside any longer.

went to town to buy 2 snow shovels, upon leaving the store driveway, decided to make my own path through the snowdrift instead of driving on the left side of the road. it was hood height and car long

on way back tooks several pictures on film

went through the state park, road not plowed, just a few tracks
someone had gone through most of the way, but stopped at a drif, which made a snow wall. used shovel to scoop away the compacted snow pushed by previous vehicle's attempt. made a run for it and got right through.
once in the clear, stopped to clear windows
hit a few more patches of snow that were interesting, but kept going

the wheels are from chrysler new yorker

Re: snow bashing

Reminds me of a couple years ago...

Just a heads up, keep an eye on the coolant temp if you're doing that sort of stuff. Packing the bumper vents kills most of the airflow to the rad.

Re: snow bashing

I was pissed. We mostly got rain and so we only got about 4" of slushy snow. Madison got about 16" and other areas near us got around 20". Lake Michigan kept us warm which kept it mostly a rain event

Re: snow bashing

ya we had a lot of slushy snow too which made it quite dense and they didnt plow my neighbourhood. the downside is the ground clearance of the svx, it scrapes along everything.
