Re: Here's to old cars...

One of the guys in the AMC club I belong to has a 1975 Gremlin with over 500,000 miles on it. He got it for free in 1978 with about 60,000 on it. His friend's dad was tearing down a barn that the car was parked in, no one in the family wanted the car and they didn't think it would be worth it to sell it, so they were going to take it to the junkyard. He put a battery in it and some fresh gas and it started right up, so he drove it home.

I have been INSPIRED!! I still have the car that I drove to high school, but I only graduated in '72'.
My 'piece' is a Ford product too. But it only has 300K on it!

There is a woman that has driven the SAME 36 Ford to the Labor day run in Cumberland ever since I have been going there!! Her name is 'Nutty' Whetzel. She lives in Woodstock Va. She got the car from her Dad right after graduation.
She has taken the 'oldest rodder' trophy for over 10 years!

Then there is the woman that was 100 years old that was doing an interview a few years back. She had to stop the interview to pull her 65 Malibu to 'grid'. She put on her helmet and ran in the 'street stock' class at the DRAG STRIP!!
She said that her 78 year old son got her into drag racing. He was driving a 'Pro-street' 68 Camaro.....
She said, "I don't see well at night, so I have to have someone drive me to the bowling alley on league nites"...

Thanks for the VID!!
