I owned, or rather, was given a 1990 subaru legacy and had it till well into the 400k mile range. I am not sure how much over 400K it was because the odometer was broken. Eventually had to junk it because it wouldn't pass NY inspection. Regret it though, because if i knew what i know now about subaru's i probably wouldn't have had to get rid of it From then on i've been bitten by the subie bug.

My dad had a white 91 wagon L. Traded it in to the dealer for his current car... not to mention he traded it in when it rolled over to 390k Still got $1000 trade in value for it too.

My 91 got CLOBBERED while parked at my front door by a drunked 'POST-WOMAN' in a white mail van!!

She hit it on LR corner, bounced it to the curb. It bounced back out into the road and she hit it AGAIN on the drivers door and pushed it back into the curb. She was in a 96 Dodge 1/2 ton van. She kept going and the neighbor chased her down.
I drove it to the bodyshop for an estimate. The guy said it was totaled, (which I KNEW). I told him that I needed a 'detailed' estimate, since it was a drunked up mail-person and a 'hit and run'.

I had to hang up on the adjuster a few times, but got my deal. ( BEFORE the court date)

9 days later, It was my FIRST auto-cross car!!!!

( I got 'high book' and bought it back for $200.)

We had a '90 Legacy LS wagon for a few years. It ran like garbage when I first got it. I put a lot of money in parts into it and it ran pretty well when we sold it. When I got rid of it, the transfer clutch was pretty much worn out. As far as I know, it's no longer road worthy.

When we had the '90, we had all red Subarus - my '93 SVX and '93 Justy and my wife's '90 Legacy. We had a friend visit with her red Outback and somewhere I have a picture of all four.

We replaced the '90 with a '95 Legacy Brighton wagon. We got rid of that car when I pulled the left-front axle and some of the diff came out with it. I stuffed it back together, we bought an '05 Outback, and I sold the Legacy to a friend of of mine. I told him not to buy it, but he didn't listen. I told him it 'might last a matter of months.' That was almost two years ago and he still drives it to work every day.

1992 Legacy L FWD 211k, oil changes about every 20k hasnt had trans fluid changed since I bought it 11 years ago and still shifts the same as it did then everthing works but the AC, 16" outback wheels with 205-50s makes it look and handle better. I can always tell when the engine is getting low on oil-fuel mileage goes up which is about a 1/2 qt in 3k. Best car I ever owned and still gets 25-27 mpg with vitually no maintenance Plan on doing that in the future........................yeah right
