FYI for the most part the Jap makers don't keep the same records US companies did as far as matching numbers are concerned. A different tranny will never be known.

OK so first off I want to say thank you to benebob, crazyhorse, huck369, jeffast and svxfiles for all the GREAT INFO (Ill let everyone know how it goes in the next few weekends but hopefully Ill be finished by this weekend) I also want to thank everyone who viewed this post.... I just want to say that this is not just a fourm but its a family.... I dont even phisically know another SVX owner but yet I feel like I know everyone!! Words cant even explain!!

This fourm ROCKS!!!!!! THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!!!

The Vin is stamped into the driver's side of the trans and the pass side of the engine block

Really? I thought the only number on the tranny case was the production serial number which is only kept by year.

Sorry for not knowing my new school Subarus there Jeff. I don't need to look at trannys all that often as I take care of mine. It isn't on the pre EJ line up. Which was where I got my info from. Guess thats an oppinion (sic) though.

"For the most part" last English class I had, was not a binding statement. Toast a tranny yet today?

The tranny CODE is on the "buck tag" on the strut tower. Not the serial #.

Thank you I've had my fill of toasted trannies. Their fishnet stockings go all melty.

So pretty much I the SVX is a matching # car (if original)..... This subaru will soon be a classic and I plan on keeping everything original. If I do modify I always keep everything just incase..

Not saying that Id ever sell but it just means more

Everyone on this fourm is great as well as good humored
