I'm pretty confident I know what to look for with scams on Ebay.

I read the description :
"I gots good compression out of it. As you can see I am parting out the whole car so if you need any part let me know and I will get it. Don't miss this deal, because it is really hurd to find a good one right now."

Can't trust these scammers at all.

Check the email name too....he/they could be using that on Ebay next: Shnyrok

My bro bought a $1,000.00 keyboard and the guy wouldn't ship or even email back. he reported it and got his money right back from PayPal

Only if the guy has it in his PayPal account.

Here is dan-carpets and he has insurance on an six engine but the starting bid is $495 and the insurance is only $200

Didn't know PayPal had their own insurance.
I guess that could be a scam then ... under insure the items you sell and hope somebody bites?
The seller in this case makes $495, minus what it cost to insure it, even if he doesn't ship the item.
Or it gets lost, is broken, or not as described?
The buyer only gets back $200.

The insurance is paid from pay pal and not related to the seller's account! but you are right about a loss if the insurance is not enough to protect you on the total purchase.

You misunderstand PayPal's 'Buyer Protection'. If a claim is made, they decide if it is justified. If they decide in the buyer's favor, and their requirements are sometimes difficult and more costly than the amount involved, then they will attempt to recover the full amount from the seller's PayPal account. If they are unable to recover the full amount then they will reimburse the buyer up to the stated 'buyer protection' amount. The amount of protection offered is calculated by PayPal based on the seller's history. The seller does not purchase it from them.

It's is not insurance. Insurance does come into play, but only in requard to shipping and PayPal has nothing to do with this. It must be arranged between the buyer and seller and purchased by the seller when the shipment is made.
