new trans install question

Just got my transaxle back after the diff grenaded. Had the tranny rebuilt while it was out. Mechanic said I should dump in 4 quarts of ATF, have someone else start the car and begin to dump in more ATF until I get to nine. Then wait to check and top off to the proper level. Of course, don't forget the diff lube.

Any other advice - this is my first install of a rebuilt auto transaxle.

Significant Technical Input
I've read several posts stating that the convertor should be pre-filled as much as possible to keep from blowing out the front seal. I've never heard of it on any other transmissions but it can't hurt, maybe a tad messy though.
