To 92 or To 94, that is the question

What do you guys think: Am I better off with a 92 that has had it's tranny and bearings replaced, or a 94 that has (to the 3rd owner's knowledge) never had a problem with either transmission or bearings and has replaced its timing belt recently? Both are pretty much asking the same price ($6200) and both are in my area and coincidently both are pearl with black top.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

Do they both have about the same mileage? If they have the same options I might go for the '94. See if you can talk them down on price though

I assume 94 is the LSi or at least a LS right? If it is the 94-L, Don't even bother unless you are looking just for the F(ront)WD car. Drive both cars. And also have someone from the club come out and check the car out for you. I could do that but Ilive in Chicago. Uh... (4 would be my choice unless 92's bearing/tranny was done at the suby dealer -- in which case, I'd pick the 92).

Lwin
ps. I own both a 94 and a 92 at this time.

Ahh see now you see my predicament. Both cars are in great shape and both are the AWD models with leather interior. The 92 that had the tranny and bearing work is actually owned buy a guy who works at a dealership, so all the work was done there....decisions decisions! I really wouldnt' feel comfortable paying 6 grand for a 92 when they sell on ebay for a couple grand less.

Wink

If you plan on cruising at 154 mph, get the '92. If you can live with less than 140 mph, settle for the '94.
Splittin' hairs, Ron.
P.S. Which one has the best tires?

I'd get the 92 --- and ask the guy for a slightly better price. I paid 5k for mine 94 last year and the car is worst than a black hole with it comes to sucking money up. I tossed in about 10k worth just fixing the car alone. No mods yet. So get the car that is taken care off by the dealer. Trust me. It's worth that little extra just to know that there is a dealer warranty on the car somewhere.
