Where Suckers Moon

I own the book,... very interesting reading.

In fact, my roomate emailed the author and gave him some updates on how the svx and subaru were doing now. About 4 months later, the author replied.

Said it was very intesresting and he might do an update to the book ie What Subaru/SVX community is doing now.

That was atleast a year ago.

Let me add my 2 cents to this subject.

IMHO, the SVX was not Subaru's Viet Nam. It was Subaru's Edsel.
It did not become a joke like the Edsel. It became something much worse. It was completely ignored by the public. To Subaru being ignored is worse than a slap in the face. SOA is a sales organization. It is not like a conventional car manufacturer. It was founded by two furniture salesmen from Philadelphia. All Subaru does is market the cars that FHI makes. FHI is more like a traditional car manufacturer. That is why the SVX gets more support in Japan. SOA wants to forget the fiasco and we keep reminding them of it.

SOA owned by FHI?

I beleive FHI at some point bought back SOA, and they are pretty much the same company(though of course two different organization structures)

SOA (Lack of) support

If SOA wants the SVX and us to go away, then why are we having the 10th anniversary meet in Lafayette at SOA in July?
SOA is supporting this meet, no? ...Larry III?..Anyone?

this "new svx" I should hope they don't call it an svx, because that will ruin everything (edit)-unique about our car-(edit) and the title svx wont hold any class at all. You know that a bunch of punk *&% teenagers are just going to have their daddy buy them one.

I agree, too. WRX is almost a little close for me too. "I have a SVX." "ohhh a WRX" "no, a SVX" "OK..."

If someone tell me I have a WRX and try to correct me, I'd punch them in their face.

I believe that FHI owns 90% of Subaru and GM owns 20 % of Subaru or something like that. If you dig it up and do a search, the topic of ownership will come up.

To my knowledge FHI owns about 85% of Subaru. GM has a technology sharing program with SOA for which GM gave SOA oodles & oodles of $.

SOA and SIA have not exactly been great for the 10th Anniv. SVX Meet. I chose SIA because they were the western most main Suby facility. It was an attempt on my part to find a main Suby facility that was located equidistant from both coasts.
I could have picked SOA headquarters in Cherry Hill ,NJ. But that would not be fair to SVXers west of the Mississippi and I wanted the max number of SVXers. By the way, 2 more SVXers have e-mail me to sign-up. That makes 155.
