The voltage at zero throttle may be fine, but this may be so only after the contact has settled properly into position. There could be poor contact as the potentiometer gets very near the end of travel. You advise that idle does not settle for a period and the thought was that intermittent contact could be a cause. Granted we tend to be clutching at straws, but what else is left ? ?

Another thought, which is rather obvious, - could there be any obscure mechanical resistance preventing the throttles from always closing cleanly.

Significant Technical Input
Neither O2 sensors nor jumped t-belts will cause rough running - poor running yes, rough running no. Ditto for TPS. What is the EXACT description of DTC 32 & 37? Does it merely read: L/R O2 sensor? Or could it be a heater fault? Or stuck high? Or low? Or O2 performance? Or O2 ckt?

Surging idle and rough running is most likely a vacuum leak or hung-open EGR valve. Surging idle by itself could be a vacuum leak or crudded t-body/IAC, or a failing crank sensor. Really poor running engines can/will throw O2 codes as the sensor will be pegged by the garbage coming down the pipe and not an accurate depiction of their performance.

Outward appearance of a crank or cam sensor means nothing. Neither does a voltmeter test. A graphing multi-meter or o'scope is the only way to check them properly.Scanners that display graphs of sensors are equally useless for something as important as a crank sensor, they cannot sample and display fast enough. Whenever the ECU gets busy the first thing it does is grab scanner output cycles.

check all the connectors to the packs and injectors, I know mine acted funny too when I had a few loose wires.... btw, did you ever grab those injectors from the yard? I would still be more than willing to snag those from you, I have to injectors that need to be replaced so... yeah.

I did not get around to changing the gasket this weekend. I was busy doing paperwork on my house that we sold!!!! Yippie I movin back to the East Coast.

Trevor and Beav thank you for the advise. I will look further into the the TPS problem.
code 32 = O2 sensor 1 inoperative & 37 = O2 sensor 2 inoperative.

I did look for any vacuum leaks and found none, looked with engine running too. I did not look in the throttle body, will add that to my list.

Chris, Yes I have those injectors, stop by and we can talk price.

Steve
