steering column won't lock
it locks in the all-the-way-down position, but won't lock anywhere else. It moves up and down freely when driving. What the heck? 92 SVX

common mistake. The "real" tilt mechanism is under the steering column at the far back. Take a look under the steering column and you will see. The lever on the side is supposed to be a tilt feature that will return the steering wheel to the same tilt level everytime. Doesn't work too well and usually starts working its way down until it sits in your lap.
If that doesn't make sense then check the owners manual. It will have diagrams explaining the tilt feature. --Matt |
