Question Wht does this indicate?

Hi,
Today I found something wiered while I am driving my baby.

the state of the car while i noticed

- Temperature needle right in the middle
- Gear is kept in 'D'
- Speed is at 65mph
- After a drive of 1/2hr

Wht i noticed

1) The rpm stays around 2250 (Is this normal?)
2) When i press the gas right to the bottom, usually the rpms must increase suddenly and the power mode must glow and the car must increase its speed. but wht i noticed is though the rpm increase, there is no difference in the speed as before.
3) I dont know whether the gear is engaged in 4th or in 3rd.
4) When i start the defroster it is making noise, it is working, but noise is high. Is there anything tht i can do to reduce it.

Hope I am clear in explaning my problems, if i miss something plz lemme know, i will try to explain.

Thanks,
Pavan.

1 close but i dont drive that very often so im not sure
2 you have to HIT the gas and not just push it to get the pwer light
3 i assume it to be fourth
4 mine whistles while on high assuming that it does that due to age and or actuall amount of air being moved

BTW My needle sits ever so slightly below the exact center so I say close enough

Pav, your tranny is dying !!!! stop messing around with it ! you can rebuilt it now better than later... I had the same symptoms in my previous BMW. the gear discs are getting burned little by little, either open the tranny and and save it or make a 5 speed swap

Not cool man I know mine is slippin ever so slightly. so cool it

No my car is driven everyday to both of my jobs.
65ish is not popular with my right foot.
no I think you got my point about hitting the gas pedal
you said that you didn't know which gear it was in and since it was in D I naturally assume 4th
and the nedel is the same apparently

Also does the power light blink upon startup...16 times...
as this will tell you most anything going on with your trans.

Thundering, don't get me wrong, I am not angry. Pavan is my everyday's friend, we chat on msn... I already advised him about his tranny, I want his best...
Guys i am wondering about some things concerning the SVX tranny, I know a great deal about Mercedes tranny but I dunno if applicable on the SVX.. the second car I own was a 1985 Mercedes 200 (E300 body). one day I was driving when suddenly the tranny started slipping like crazy. fixing it costed me like $0, it was a broken stupid screw at the side of the tranny which was leaking some oil... I was wondering...
